Green winged orchid

We had our first sighting of this year's orchids today, both Early Purple and Green-winged (though we were told of a sighting last weekend). They are still few, far between and only just showing flowers, but now coming through in a number of the usual locations through which we passed.

First Bluebell Sighting of 2016
Bluebells in Box Woods

Our first sighting of a bluebell this Spring - part of a small group in Box Woods. True! It is not a very vigorous specimen - but a real sign Spring is on the way.

Snowdrops at Cherington

There is a very fine display of snowdrops at Cherington Pond at present. Worth a trip and a walk in the local wood. (I will not recommend the route that I did this morning, however. Far too much mud!)
